Gang Gang Dance @ Dingwalls has been cancelled. Damn damn damn! GGD played in Amsterdam on Friday and stored their equipment in the venue overnight. An electrical fire broke out and completely wrecked their not insubstantial amount of equipment including a lot of the memory cards for their samplers. The band have cancelled the rest of their UK/European tour and have said:

‘While we did entertain the thought of just renting or borrowing a bunch of random gear and somehow continuing the tour and just improvising every night, it just doesn’t seem like its going to work out. While it would be fun and we’d love to stick this out for everyone that was excited to see us, we feel like we came to perform a certain set of songs and if we cant do that then its probably best to just come back again when we have the necessary gear to do so.’

Sucks for them, sucks for us. If you’re not familiar with them yet then this at least gives you a chance to catch up in time to see them on their next tour I guess. Their album St Dymphna was in my top 15 for 2008, it’s psychedelic tribal dance jams are to die for. If you don’t believe me then check out the track below.
