Review: We Have Band @ The Delancey, New York.

We Have Band @ The Delancey, March 16th. WHB did it again last night. Their third ever New York gig, all over the space of a few days, and surely their best. Lots of familiar faces from the last one this time. The shoeless wonder that is Darren stole the show once again, his vocals even more delectable this evening. Smooth like velvet. Having said that husband and wife Thomas and Dede are no slouches themselves on Synth/perucssion and bass/guitar respectively.
Percussion heavy 80′s tinged electro disco is their game and they play it with style. It’s inspired stuff from first single ‘Oh’ (Oh Oh!), an anthem in the making, to the rhythmic panting of first ever song ‘We Have Band’ to the New Order like ‘Hear It In The Cans’ to excellent set closer ‘You’ve Had Band’ (surely one of the songs of the year?). Oh and then there’s that excellent Pet Shop Boys cover again (West End Girls). The band head to Texas tomorrow to play ten shows in four days at SXSW. Watch out Texas, watch out World!
