SXSW 2009 Day 1 – The Temper Trap.
Posted by: musicmuleblog
The Temper Trap @ Dirty Dog Bar. The Temper Trap were the best band I saw yesterday amongst some stiff competition. From Melbourne these guys play big rock songs that could equally fit in an arena (I’m thinking more Brixton Academy than Wembley but who knows) or in a smaller art rock venue.
For Fans Of: TV On The Radio, The Rapture, good U2.
Lots of guitars (three at some points) pounding drums and a frontman (Dougy) with a great voice and a great presence. He looks nothing like what I imagined but that’s a good thing I think. I didn’t really get the TV On The Radio comparisons before seeing them live but they’ve got the same vibe. I love TVOTR and now I love The Temper Trap. I feel very privileged to have seen ‘Sweet Disposition’ played live. Happy days!
