Sure there are a ridiculous number of faux 8os acts around at the moment but if half of them could write a tune like ‘True Romane (True No9 Blues) by Golden Silvers then we’d be onto a winner. Unfortunately most of them can’t live up to the song writing and (a little bit Morrissey,a little bit Albarn) delivery of front man Gwilym Gold. Something to shake your thang to!

‘Young Adult Friction’ is an irresistible indie pop gem from New Yorks rising stars The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart. It’s a guitar driven tale of young adults getting down to business in the library. Tut tut! Peggy’s sweet female vocal line of ‘Now that you feel’ offsets the track beautifully. It was a toss up between this and my favourite new song about incest, the fantastically titled – ‘This Love Is Fucking Right!’. The album is a gem, buy it, seriously.
