What? Serpentine Sessions presents: Bon Iver a.k.a. Justin Vernon from Wisconsin. He released one of the best albums of 2008 in the achingly beautiful ‘For Emma Forever Ago’. The gig will be held in a specially designed 3000 capacity area in the Royal Park section of Hyde Park. See even the Queen must dig this guy!
For Fans Of: Bonnie Prince Billy, Sufjan Stevens, Micah P Hinson.
The album is beautiful stripped down Americana recorded in his father’s wood cabin in the woods of Wisconsin with Justin’s affecting high voice carrying each song to soaring peaks. I managed to catch him three times last year and his songs are even more moving live. His most recent release, ‘Blood Bank’ EP, has proved there is no letting up on quality from newer material.
When? Tuesday, June 30th.
Where? Hyde Park, London.
How Much? £25
Tickets? ticketmaster / 0844 576 5483
