The Mars Volta @ Somerset House, July 13th.
What? The Mars Volta’s Cedric Bixler and Omar Rodriguez come to Somerset House to weave their over the top Latin tinged prog-rock meets punk magic. Omar is one of the best guitarists around and Cedric has one of the best voices. Not a bad combo! Be prepared to be equally enthralled and baffled by their majestic weirdness. Check out one of my favourite ever songs ‘Inertiatic Esp’ below.

Left With Pictures @ The Lexington, May 2nd.
What? Left With Pictures are a four piece of classically trained musicians who now take it upon themselves to play the catchiest folk pop songs in the land. Quintessentially English sounding and vocally powerful with three members exchanging lead vocal duties. They played completely unplugged last time I saw them and were none the worst for it. Powerful yet twee stuff! For Fans Of: Belle & Sebastien, The Leisure Society, Slow Club. // more
