The Sleeping Years @ The Slaughtered Lamb, July 9th.
Posted by: nick
What? The Local presents The Sleeping Years which is the vehicle for the songwriting talents of Dale Grundle who since a string of EPs in 2007 and a critically acclaimed (8/10 DiS) debut album in 2008, is shaping into one of the best singer-songwriter’s the UK has to offer. Dale is supported by sweet sounding US born, London based duo Rue Royale and L.A. songstress Lucy Langlas.
For Fans Of: Iron & Wine, Nick Drake, Elliot Smith.
Rue Royale are named after a road running through the Chicago suburbs. Two Years ago Rue Royale’s ‘The Search For Where To Go EP’ found its way into my hands somehow and I was suitably impressed by their sweet, simple sounding songs with beautiful acoustic guitars and vocal interplay between the two members. It seems since then they’ve decided where to go, becoming a full time touring band who have just embarked on a 20 date European tour which has lead to Radio 1 and XFM airplay.
For Fans Of: Eels, Great Lake Swimmers, James Yuill.
Lucy Langlas plays thoughtfully crafted folk tunes with jazz influences, a clear pop leaning and a poetic storytelling vocal style.
For Fans Of: Emmylou Harris, Jesse Baylin.
When? Thursday, July 9th.
Where? The Slaughtered Lamb, Farringdon.
How Much? £6
