What? David Thomas Broughton is the self dubbed ‘gypsy Freddie Mercury’ and that isn’t too far off either. He has an astounding voice and a presence that is almost menacing. Through use of guitar, loops and samples he creates a unique and powerful alt. folk experience.

What? The Local presents: Chief/ Erland & The Carnival / She Keeps Bees. Chief are from new York but have more of a Southern Rock sound. Jangly guitar lines and heartfelt lyrics. Their Myspace claims they’re like the offspring of Grant Lee Buffalo and Oasis with Neil Young as the uncle. Interesting.
