Heath Ledger directed video: Modest Mouse – King Rat

The video for Modest Mouse’s ‘King Rat’ track was premiered yesterday on Myspace. It’s partly directed by late actor Heath Ledger and was finished off by his film company The Masses following his death. Heath conceived the idea and wanted to use it to raise awareness of illegal whale hunting off the coast of his native Australia. All proceeds from video downloads via US iTunes during the first month of sale will go to anti-whaling charity Sea Shepherd.

‘King Rat’ was originally given away as a free promo only 7″ single with purchases of Modest Mouse’s 2007 album ‘We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank’ and it also features in the band’s new 8-track digital EP ‘No-one’s First And You’re Next’ released on Aug 17th. As well as this track the EP will feature six tracks that were recently released as limited edition 7″singles and ‘I’ve Got It All (Most)’ which was the b-side to the ‘Float On’ single in 2004 and is currently out of print.
