Swn 2009 Day 1: Wild Beasts

Hardly a new discovery but who can turn down the opportunity to see the awesome Wild Beasts in the flesh? Well we’ve actually done it once already this year and that was an error. Wild Beasts second album ‘Two Dancers’ is one of the best of the year so far and it’s great to see the band effortlessly rolling through their increasingly impressive catalogue live.

For Fans Of: The Smiths, Eugene McGuinness, Memory Tapes.

Hayden and Tom’s voices were on top form and when those two are firing on all cylinders you know it’s going to be a good night.’This Is Our Lot’ was the perfect intro song. Benny’s red guitar(s) dazzled during ‘Hooting and Howling’ and ‘Devil’s Crayon’ blew our minds. Bert’s drumming was phenomenal despite whoever set up the stage seemingly trying to half hide him behind a curtain. A must see live band for those who dig their sound and last night that included Girls and Swanton Bombs who were onlooking with admiration.
