Swn 2009 Day 2: Girls

Our highlight of the evening came from Girls who played their final UK show last night before flying back to San Francisco this morning. If they were tired from the relentless touring then it didn’t show. Everything about the band from Christopher’s voice to the dual guitars, bass and drums fits perfectly. Their sound oozes warmth. So many great songs it’s hard to pick a highlight but….
For Fans Of: Elvis Costello, Spiritualised, The Smith Westerns.
‘Lust For Life’ was excellent, as was our favourite new song ‘Substance’ but ‘Morning Light’ takes the cake on the night in all of it’s dark shoegaze glory.
Girls and Swanton Bombs have been touring the UK together over the past few weeks and are now bestest buddies. Emotions ran high as the duo joined Girls on stage for a cover of Daniel Johnston’s ‘True Love Will Find You In The End’. The second time it’s performed on the evening but this one was special.
We can’t wait to see Girls when they’re due back in the UK this February. Thanks for another memorable evening Christopher and co.
