Acoustic Consequences 2: Vadoinmessico, exlovers & The Boy Icarus, Nov 22nd.

What? Music Mule is proud to present Acoustic Consequences 2. This time around we have three of the best new bands to call London home. Starting with the awesome old meets new folk ramblings of The Boy Icarus through to the all killer no filler Kurran & The Wolfnotes and finishing off with some continental flare courtesy of the epic Vadoinmessico. We can hardly wait!

For Fans Of: MUSIC MULE!

the boy icarus

The Boy Icarus is hotly tipped folk troubadour Huw who sounds a little like if all of the great folk artists of years gone by had been merged into one during their prime, quickly dragged through every decade up until now, then left to fend for themselves in a post-Libertines London. In other words an old sound that manages to be very much here and now.

For Fans Of: Bob Dylan, Bright Eyes, Micah P Hinson.

kurran & the wolfnotes

So we’re very sad to inform you that Pete from exlovers has got tonsillitis so won’t be able to play the show tomorrow. We’ll definitely be getting him back to play in the new year though. In the meantime all is not lost as Kurran and The Wolfnotes have kindly agreed to step into their slot. We were intending on getting them down to play a show next year but as it happens we don’t have to wait that long so woop woop to that! Get well soon Pete.

For Fans Of: Fleetwood Mac, Cherbourg, The Decemberists.

Vadoinmessico will finishing the night with some sounds from the Mediterranean and further afield all brought together in the form of their supremely catchy cinematic folk songs. This now London based collective is lead by the majestic vocals and guitar of songwriter Giorgio Poti, an exciting new talent. As Rcrdlbl put it in a recent feature:

“If the super intense tango scene in Scent of a Woman was transposed into The Red Balloon, the soundtrack would be “In Spain.”  If Frankie and Annette’s Beach Party also featured the arboretum scene from Sabrina, the soundtrack would be “Cave.”  If the “Stella!” scene in Streetcar Named Desire was filtered through The Science of Sleep, the soundtrack would be “Sisma.”

Don’t worry we don’t get it all either! But these guys are magic live so don’t miss out.

For Fans Of: The Dodos, Lykke Li, Grizzly Bear.
