Swn Day 3: Yr Ods
Yr Ods are from ‘The City Of The Burning Heart’ according tot heir myspace which we hear on good faith is located somewhere in North Wales. They sing in both their native Welsh and English and we caught up with them at the Moshi Moshi showcase on the final eve of Swn 2009. With sweet melodies and big guitars they can’t help but sound a little bit Super Furry but then there are worst sounds by a North Wales country mile.

Swn 2009 Day 2: Girls
Our highlight of the evening came from Girls who played their final UK show last night before flying back to San Francisco this morning. If they were tired from the relentless touring then it didn’t show. Everything about the band from Christopher’s voice to the dual guitars, bass and drums fits perfectly. Their sound oozes warmth. So many great songs it’s hard to pick a highlight but….

Swn 2009 Day 2: Swanton Bombs
Swanton Bombs are like the White Stripes but with a much much better drummer. The 2-piece feature Dominic McGuinness, younger brother of Music Mule hero Eugene, and Brendan Heaney. These guys have a good knowledge of music and wear their blues rock influences proudly on their sleeves.

Swn 2009 Day 2: The Longcut
The Longcut battled through some early sound issues to play what ended up as an impressive beat driven set. They have a singing drummer but thankfully that’s where the Genesis comparisons stop. The 3-piece have a euphoric rhythmic sound which is impressive if not too original. They could easily be American but they’re not.
