Local Natives @ Heaven, March 2nd.
What? Like fellow American band Memory Tapes, Local Natives made one of the albums of 2009 and can’t announce shows quick enough at the moment. Their Hoxton date on Jan 19th sold out within seconds so the story goes. Anyway fear not as the band’s biggest UK headline date and perhaps biggest ever headline date (?) is announced at Heaven Under The Arches this March. A real treat live.

Memory Tapes @ Cargo, March 13th.
What? New Jersey electronic maestro Memory Tapes‘ first London date at the Luminaire on 20th Jan sold out in double quick time leading to him announcing a free show at the Social in Central London the night before (first come first served) and now this follow up date in the larger and arguably more suited to his needs Cargo in March. We can’t wait to hear our number 3 album of the year in the flesh.

On Repeat: Tune Yards – Bird Brains
So we somehow missed listening to this one in time for our best of 2009 feature but should she be doing so in person Merrill Garbus a.k.a. Tune Yards would be in need of oxygen with the speed at which she is currently racing up our favourite albums list. No point dwelling on missed opportunities though as thankfully this 4AD signed New England native has talent by the sack full and seems here to stay.

Wild Palms @ Madame Jojo’s, Feb 23rd.
White Heat presents one of the hottest new bands in town – Wild Palms – in their first London headline show of 2010. We’re very excited by the prospects of this post-punk leaning four piece. Dark, moody guitars, driving rhythms and sharp lyrics.
