Half-Time: Music Mule’s First XI – Albums of 2010 (so far)
Have you ever tried to write a top 10 list? Don’t, it’s a nightmare! Our first problem is that 10 isn’t that many! Secondly there are technicalities. Do we include albums featured in last year’s list (Darwin Deez, Local Natives, etc) that have only been “officially” released this year? Then there’s the danger of getting carried away with what you’re loving NOW and forgetting how much you adored albums earlier in the year. Right, enough moaning, as it’s a World Cup year we’re having a starting eleven anyway! // more

Avi Buffalo @ Cargo, Aug 24th.
What? Following a sold out London debut at Old Blue Last back in May, Avi Buffalo and his Californian crew are back to play the bigger & better Cargo on August 24th. The show is preceeded by the release of the band’s next single ‘Truth Sets In’ (Aug 16th), another gloriously warm wonky pop gem from their phenomenal Sub Pop debut album ‘Avi Buffalo’. We love these guys.

Perfume Genius – Learning
Perfume Genius is Mike Hadreas from Seattle. Sounding far more world wise and weary than his early twenty something years would have you believe. His beautiful, sparse minor key piano and vocal lead home recordings are some of the most affecting songs we’ve heard in a long while. ‘Learning’ is taken from Perfume Genius’ debut album of the same name, out now through Turnstile Music in the UK.
For Fans Of: Elliot Smith, Sufjan Stevens, Daniel Johnston. // more
