Dinosaur Feathers / Carnivores Split 7″ (Music Mule Single)

Music Mule is proud to take the step from virtual to physical with the release of our debut record, a 300-limited-edition pressing of a quadruple A-side split 7″ from psychedelic, harmony ridden three-piece Dinosaur Feathers (Brooklyn) and tropical flavoured garage punk outfit Carnivores (Atlanta, Georgia). Released Dec 13th, available to pre-order right now from the bottom of this page!

Carnivores are a tropical flavoured garage punk outfit who have just released their second album ‘If I’m Ancient’ through Double Phantom in The States. ‘Parent’s Attic’ is lifted from the new album and features the breathless, petulant vocals of classically trained pianist Caitlin Lang, guitarist Nathan Higgins, drummer Ross Politi and bassist Philip Frobos whose brighter tones anchor this and a lot of Carnivores’ songs.

‘Dressed For The Rain’ is exclusive to this release and is fast becoming a live favourite on the band’s current U.S. tour. You can see why, Philip’s  lead vocals taking centre stage on this garage-Doors-esque number that builds from a brooding slow start into a psychedelic swirl of a track. Look out for UK dates to come in the new year.

For Fans Of: Abe Vigoda, Vampire Weekend, Faust.

Dinosaur Feathers are a psychedelic, harmony ridden three-piece from Brooklyn who come across like a wonky-Beach Boys or a poppier Abe Vigoda, whichever floats your boat. They share Carnivores’ tropical undercurrents but have their heart drawn more to pop than punk. Chief songwriter/guitarist and vocalist Greg Sullo is to blame for that, admitting that no matter what type of song he tries to pen “there’s always pop at its core”.

‘Teenage Whore’, from the band’s self-released U.S. debut ‘Fantasy Memorial’, has garnered them much hype and acclaim the other side of the pond. The title and lyrical content highlights the band’s wry sense of humour on a track that sees their Beach Boys meets Animal Collective influences turned up to max. ‘Young Bucks’, their exclusive offering for the release, sees a more straight up guitar pop side to the band that had us hooked from the first note. We hope you’ll feel the same way.

For Fans Of: Animal Collective, Beach Boys, Abe Vigoda.
