Geographer @ Betsy’s Bar (Yelp party), SXSW 2011 March 18th. We saw Geographer on Thursday and they were phenomenal but plagued by sound issues. A good excuse to see them again but in truth we would have been at Betsy’s Bar for round two anyhow. The San Francisco 3-piece kicked off with ‘Verona’ and absolutely owned the venue after that. Frontman Mike has his leg in a cast after being hit by a car a couple of weeks ago but his performance is unaffected aside from being rooted to his seat.
‘Original Sin’ is arguably the highlight in a set where their drummer kills it every time, the electric cello adds a welcome twist to their infectious synth pop and Mike’s voice is the best at SXSW we’re willing to wager.
