About
Music Mule is a blog that focuses on live music in London. We post gig details and reviews of the bands we love that are touring our fair (or grimey) city, complete with sample mp3s and videos for your aural/visual pleasure. Recommending new music is a specialty but not exclusively what the site is about. There’s still time to pay heed to some old favourites who demand our attention.
London is one of the best (if not the best) cities in the world for music and right now there are more venues than ever showcasing up ‘n’ coming and independent bands. It’s time to take advantage.
We don’t list all the bands playing in London, there are simply too many and a lot of them are rubbish. We try to keep our minds as open as possible and cover those that we think are worth covering. Hopefully the result is a good variety of content.
Live music is without doubt the best way of experiencing music. There’s a great buzz to be had from hearing your favourite artist perform a stones throw away from you. Being blown away by a band you’re unfamiliar with can be just as thrilling, maybe more for some. We write live reviews to share these sometimes magical and sometimes shitty experiences with those who care to hear them.
You’re encouraged to help support the wonderful artists that make Music Mule’s pages come to life. You can do this by clicking on the links provided to buy tickets, CDs, Vinyl, downloads and whatever else may take your fancy.
Please spread the word of the site, sign up for our weekly mail out on the homepage, leave comments, send in music, gig details and add your gigs to our public calendar. London is blessed with far too many gigs for us to cover at the moment so if you’d like to help out then get in touch. We’re always looking for people to do reviews, previews and interviews.
We hope you enjoy what you find

Ticket Prices
All ticket prices quoted are face value so expect to pay a couple of quid booking fee depending on who the ticket agency is. I try to use the cheaper alternatives when possible. The general order of preference seems to be (best to worst) wegottickets (no paper tickets), gigantic, ticketweb, see tickets, ticketmaster.
Green
Music Mule believes in going green whenever possible. We are hosted by carbon neutral company Supergreen Hosting.
You can cut your carbon footprint by watching music locally rather than travelling far and wide and if you do travel then use a bike or a train instead of a car or at least fill your car. There are obviously some bands that I would travel to the end of the earth for but these things have to be done in moderation.
Lots of ticket companies offer e-tickets these days so if you’re not bothered about keeping your ticket as a memento then why not go for this option? Generally you don’t even need to print out your confirmation email, just scribble down the number on a piece of paper or better still in your phone. Just make sure you take the right credit card with you!
