    The atmospheric but far from impressive sounding Camp Basement has seen two London debuts by two of our favourite new artists in as many Monday’s. Last week Toro Y Moi stepped up to the play and last night was Wild Nothing‘s turn. Also like Toro Y Moi, on record Wild Nothing is just one, namely Virginia’s Jack Tatum but both DIY artists chose the wise option of bringing a band in tow for their live dates. // more

    Review: Toro Y Moi @ Camp Basement, July 19th.

    Music Mule had been looking forward to this gig for months. With Toro Y Moi‘s superb ‘Causers Of This’ album working its way deeper and deeper into our cavernous musical minds, the timing could not have been better for the South Carolinan’s debut UK headline slot at Rockfeedback’s Camp Basement show in London last night. With his growing rep the show was unsurprisingly a sweaty sell out. // more

    Review: Delorean @ The Lexington, July 2nd.

    One of the most definable sounds of the last year has been the rise of ‘glo-fi’, that mottled, blur-edged woozy synth-pop so expertly dished up by the likes of Washed Out and Toro Y Moi. Tonight’s band Delorean have taken this template, jumped in a gull-wing-doored time machine and thrown it together with a bit of Cut Copy’s rthythm and a dose of Ibiza synth to give us a sound that is very much summer 2010. // more

    California’s Dum Dum Girls are one of the latest jewels in an increasingly impressive Sub Pop crown. Their debut album ‘I Will Be’, a gloriously dark pop record full of fuzzy guitars and beautiful female harmonies, has won them praise across the board and support slots for MGMT later this year. We were lucky enough to get hold of Dum Dum Girls’ chief black cat Dee Dee to answer some of our questions. // more
