Telepathe @ 93 Feet East, May 11th.
What? Telepathe is one of my favourite new bands and evidently I’m in good company, as David Sitek (TV On The Radio) also loves this Brooklyn girl duo. So much so in fact that he produced their latest album, the brilliant Dance Mother. Their sound is tripped out, hypnotic dance music with lush synths, electronic beats and mesmerising female vocals. Review: Wild Beasts @ 93 Feet East, Feb 24th.
Unlike at The Walkmen on Friday there was no big queue to be met outside the Wild Beasts show at 93 Feet East in Brick Lane yesterday evening, in fact to the unsuspecting eye you’d never even have guessed there was a gig going on. It’s not a sign of the lack of popularity of the bands playing but the opposite. You see the lineup tonight from start to finish this is top-drawer stuff so everyone’s inside early with bums on limited seats. // more

What? Handsome Furs is husband/wife duo Dan Boeckner, from big favourites of mine Wolf Parade, and short story writer Alexei Perry. They make sometimes epic sometimes understated songs based around Dan’s instantly familiar voice and Alexei’s wordplay. Spiky guitars, keys, drum machine and synth carry them along. // more
