Music Mule was at Shepherds Bush Empire last night for a great bill topped by Portland’s wonderful Alela Diane, playing her 97th show since February in support of her To Be Still album. Support came from the UK’s rising folk stars The Leisure Society and another Portland, Oregon artist Laura Gibson, an exciting new talent to watch out for. // more

What? Alela Diane‘s ‘Pirate Gospel’ album won Rough Trade’s album of the year prize in 2006 and she’s just about to release the much anticipated follow up ‘To Be Still’ which has been winning rave reviews. Her date at St Giles In The Fields sold out in good time so she’s announced a new date and her biggest headline show to date in Shepherds Bush later in the year. Sure it’s a long way off but don’t be complacent – this will sell out. // more
