    The rain stayed away and the time clashes proved only fairly merciless (Atlas Sound/Caribou) for what was all in all a killer day in the sun at Field Day in Victoria Park.     What? Beth Jeans Houghton we’re reliably informed (not because we read it honest!) was in the rising stars section of Grazia recently but don’t hold that against the girl. A young unmistakeably English folk sogstress with more than a shake of pop star to her. Her latest EP Hot Toast Vol 1 is a wheaty delight.

    What? Beth Jeans Houghton. We love BJH and her kooky folk ditties. ‘Golden’ has to be one of the tracks of the year so far. We interviewed her back in May and since then she’s gained a permanent band ‘The Hooves Of Destiny’, has released a new ‘Hot Toast Vol 1′ EP and has had a massive feature in the Observer Music Monthly. Not bad for a 19 year old from Newcastle.
