Wolf Gang, Darwin Deez @ Madame Jojo’s, March 9th.

What? White Heat present what could be one of the gigs of the year featuring Music Mule favourites from 2009, London’s own Wolf Gang who we already know is magnificent but perhaps most excitingly Brooklyn’s hipster indie pop dance machine Darwin Deez who made one of our top five records of last year but is a bit of an unknown (at least to these shores) and perhaps volatile quantity live.

You Massive Radar – Bands of 2010 part 1

Here’s who’s got us excited about 2010. We’ve tried to leave off most of the BBC esque acts as you already know about them right? There may be a couple of crossovers though. And no we’re not going to use the term ‘ones to watch’ anywhere. Except there obviously. Let us know anyone we’ve missed as inevitably there will be a lot. Part 2 to follow soon. On Repeat: darwin deez

darwin deez is from Brooklyn but sounds nothing like the last wave of MGMT, Amazing Baby esque bands that we’ve been used to from there over the past couple of years. Simple, infectious, danceable guitar pop with catchy, thoughtful lyrics warmly delivered. The most uplifting album we’ve heard in a long while despite some of it’s serious subject matter.
