Girls – Broken Dreams Club
Afternoon, Afternoon. A quick one to point out that the Broken Dreams Club mini album, the latest offering from the fantastic Girls of San Francisco, is out today through Fantasytrashcan / Turnstile Music in the UK and True Panther in the U.S. It features a previous Music Mule faves ‘Heartbreaker’, ‘Substance’, the title track and a smattering of newbies including ‘Carolina’ that promise bright days to come. // more

Girls – July Tour Footage
Christopher Owens of Girls kindly just sent over some footage of the band out on the road during their July tour. You’ll find snippets from the band’s set at Pitchfork Festival in Chicago as well as some great World Cup footage from Espana during the European leg of their tour. The soundtrack comes courtesy of London band The Field Mice’s ‘Star Of David’ taken from their 1991 album For Keeps. // more

Girls @ Scala, Feb 23rd.
Girls won us over hook, line and sinker last year with their heartfelt West Coast pop and occasional but startlingly convincing forays into shoegaze. All was and is accompanied by Christopher Owens’ tales of love, always love. Among those captivated by the band’s debut were the NME who made the band headliners of one of their NME Awards Tour shows despite no actual award. So what would the kids think? Would there be any there?
