Darker My Love @ The Lexington, April 18th.

What? Darker My Love – I saw these Californians supporting A Place To Bury Strangers the other day. They stole the show on a tough bill with their distorted, psychedelic guitar jams. A really tight band, if you like noisy, guitar heavy tunes then this will make your day. Highly recommended. For Fans Of: Brian Jonestown Massacre, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Led Zeppelin.

We Have Band @ Hoxton Bar & Grill, April 16th.

What? We Have Band are a London boy-girl-boy 3-piece that play glorious 8os tinged, percussive, electro pop anthems. I practically stalked them across America while there recently. Great songs and great fun live. They’ve just won the Glastonbury emerging talent prize so will be playing on the Other Stage at this year’s festival. Catch them while you can…

Dead Confederate @ The Victoria, London. TONIGHT April 7th

What? Dead Confederate are straight out of Athens, Georgia, USA and they play their first ever UK headline date this evening near Mile End. I saw them last night supporting A Place To Bury Strangers and they were worth the entry price alone. They opened for REM recently. Au Revoir Simone @ Bush Hall, May 6th.

What? Au Revoir Simone / Cortney Tidwell. Hailing from Brooklyn, Au Revoir Simone are Annie, Erika and Heather. You may recognise them as the sweet vocals on Friendly Fires’ 2008 hit ‘Paris’. Their brand of synth-lead alt folk sends me to a soft place. You’d be forgiven for thinking the three of them were sisters but you’d be wrong. I’m not playing a White Stripes style trick on you, honestly. For Fans Of: Camera Obscura, The Concretes, Tilly and The Wall. // more
