The Joy Formidable may be a far cry from tonight’s headliners Passion Pit and their falsetto pop charm but they certainly share with them a certain obsession for sonic perfection evident from both bands’ sets this evening. Are we discounting too much the input of Koko’s huge soundsystem and their Darth Vader’s Bathroom mixing desk? // more

Review: Passion Pit @ Koko, Oct 27th.
Like a photo on a dating website, the recorded, produced version of a band sometimes doesn’t translate into what they’re like in person. A band’s album is them shot from their best angle, accentuating their best features. Sometimes, when you meet them face-to-face, you wish you hadn’t bothered.

Passion Pit @ Koko, Oct 27th.
What? Passion Pit a.k.a Boston electronic whizz kid Michael Angelakos plus band. They’re undoubtedly one of the buzz groups of the year so far but luckily they’ve got some substance to back it up. Rob Da Bank loves them too, he’s already booked them for a gig at Heaven and for his Bestival on Isle Of Wight.
