SXSW 2009 Day 2 – Passion Pit.
Passion Pit @ Radio Room. Passion Pit are definitely one of the big buzz bands of the festival so far, the queue for this one was colossal. So do we believe the hype? Yes. Despite a crappy sound and melting temperatures the band played a blinder and had the crowd eating out of their hand.

Passion Pit @ Heaven Under The Arches, May 13th.
What? Passion Pit have only released one excellent EP but already there’s a whole lot of buzz around this Massachusetts band and quite rightly so it would seem. I saw them at an instore recently and their psych-electro pop jams are just as infective as on record. This gig is courtesy of that nice guy Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank.

The Great Escape 2009, Brighton, May 14th-16th.
What? The Great Escape Festival. The festival’s organisers have just announced the first of the lineup for 2009. In case you’re unfamiliar with the event it’s generally a chance to see some good upcoming bands before they get big. There are a few bigger names thrown in for good measure and to show the new guys how it is done. A wristband gets you into all participating venues accross Brighton. // more
