Music Mule was at Shepherds Bush Empire last night for a great bill topped by Portland’s wonderful Alela Diane, playing her 97th show since February in support of her To Be Still album. Support came from the UK’s rising folk stars The Leisure Society and another Portland, Oregon artist Laura Gibson, an exciting new talent to watch out for. // more

What? Modest Mouse, Frightened Rabbit. Modest Mouse are one of the biggest indie bands in the world these days but they don’t make it to the UK that often. This rare London date will see Isaac Brock, Johnny Marr and co playing their unique brand of Americana to what will doubtless be another capacity audience.

What? Pearl Jam. Yes folks there’s no need to alter your monitors because it’s true that legendary Seattle rockers Pearl Jam will be playing the 3000 capacity Shepherds Bush Empire this August. This is an intimate show for a band who normally don’t get out of bed for anywhere smaller than the O2 which they also play days later. These will sell like hot cakes in case you didn’t get that vibe already.

Review: Local Natives, Of Montreal @ Shepherds Bush Empire, July 14th.
Local Natives played only their second ever UK gig last night while opening for camp pop veterans Of Montreal in Shepherds Bush. There’s been a lot of hype, Music Mule included, for this band who were one of the biggest pulls this year at the industry scouting den that is SXSW music festival. Keen to see if they could re-create those beautiful harmonies live we headed to West London. // more
