On Repeat: Spoon – Written In Reverse
Austin’s Spoon are back with a new single, ‘Written In Reverse’, taken from the album ‘Transference’ which follows on Jan 19th 2010. ‘Written In Reverse’ is trademark Spoon but a bit meaner and tighter if possible. All driving drums, jagged guitars, thumped out piano lines and snarled vocals. Apparently Britt Daniels’ (vocals) mum is worried they’re getting “a bit too metal”!

Spoon @ Electric Ballroom, Feb 16th.
What? Austin legends Spoon head out on a rare European tour comprising of six dates, three of which are in the UK and fortunately for us one of those is in our wet (at time of writing) city London. Spoons new album ‘Transference’ is due out on Jan 26th so this’ll be an early chance to hear the new material live as well as some oldies from their formidable back catalogue.

Spoon – Got Nuffin
Spoon are somewhat of an indie rock institution in the States but never seem to get the light of day over here. Their last record, the excellent Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga was one of the best albums of 2007 but was largely overlooked and practically impossible to find in a record shop. Anyway they’re back and it’s time to PAY ATTENTION.
