SXSW 2010: Oh No Ono @ Mohawks.

Oh No Ono are a Danish five piece from Copenhagen and they’re probably the best band you’ve never heard of right now. They certainly won us over at Mohawks with their unique blend of psychedelic helium pop. Think The Flaming Lips on speed with even more of an ear for a melody and some improbably high vocal harmonies and you may get somewhere close.

SXSW 2010: Princeton, Kanine Records Showcase @ Wave Rooftop

SXSW 2010: Brazos @ Home Slice Pizza

Brazos are a three-piece from Austin Texas who released our sixth favourite album of 2009 so we could hardly pass up the chance to see Martin Crane and co perform in their hometown now could we? Factor into the equation too that the band were due to play three 15 minute sets on a small outdoor stage in the sun and we had cause for serious excitement.

SXSW 2010: Bear In Heaven, Ioda Showcase @ Emo’s Annex

Official Music Mule Health Warning: Bear In Heaven have no regard for maintaining the current layout of your internal organs. But this band are more than simply low end frequencies that shake to the core. There’s a wonderful fluidity to these synth and beat driven psychedelic songs, an effortless power. While other bands with sounds this big may get lost in their own sonic cocktails, Bear In Heavens songs shine through. The set of our day without doubt.
