Swn 2009 Day 3: The Drums
The Drums were the main draw for us at the Moshi Moshi evening. The Brooklyn duo are now a full band of four it would seem and tonight they even throw in a couple of air hostess dressed backing singers to the equation. Front man Jonathan Pierce stomped out his dance moves and tambourine/guitar player Jacob Graham spent as much time in the air as he did on the ground.

On Repeat: The Drums – Summertime! EP
The Drums ‘Let’s Go Surfing’ SINGLE was one of the funnest tunes of the summer and now their follow up EP proves there’s more to come from Brooklyn’s hot new sons. The duo’s ‘Summertime! EP’ is out October 12th in the UK through Moshi Moshi records and is a beautiful, easy going and as the title may suggest summer drenched collection of songs to fall in love with.

FREE: The Drums @ The Flowerpot, Sept 19th.
What? The Drums. We’re as of yet undecided about new Brooklyn band The Drums but one thing is for sure and that is they are getting a lot of press right now. The fact that they’ve got upcoming releases through the excellent Moshi Moshi label and that our NYC ear on the ground tells us that they’re good value live (minus the backing singers) leads us to believe that further investigation is in order. So why not do it for free this Saturday?

What? The Drums are back in October for their first UK tour proper and will follow up the release of September’s debut single ‘Let’s Go Surfing’ with the seven-track Summertime! EP released on 12th October. A little bit late for summer though isn’t it boys? If you’re really keen you can also catch them at the Club NME night at Koko on Oct 23rd.
