    Review: Delorean @ The Lexington, July 2nd.

    One of the most definable sounds of the last year has been the rise of ‘glo-fi’, that mottled, blur-edged woozy synth-pop so expertly dished up by the likes of Washed Out and Toro Y Moi. Tonight’s band Delorean have taken this template, jumped in a gull-wing-doored time machine and thrown it together with a bit of Cut Copy’s rthythm and a dose of Ibiza synth to give us a sound that is very much summer 2010. // more

    We hadn’t seen Austin Texas’ Harlem since SXSW 2009 where they blew us away with their catchy surf punk. Since then the band has signed to Matador records, released their second album ‘Hippies’ and doubtless eaten some delicious Texas BBQ. We’re not calling them fat, just commenting on the abundance of good BBQ in Texas! // more

    Ace Texas label In The Red’s The Intelligence were supposed to be over from the States to headline this night but got detained at the French/UK border apparently. Oh well, we were there to see Dignan Porch anyway who had no trouble making the journey from Tooting to Angel incidentally.

    What? It’s recently been revealed that mystery band Summer Camp are in fact Music Mule hero Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey. We’ve actually been sitting on that secret for a while so it’s good to share at last! The duo are set to leave their secret underground lair for their debut live show at The Lexington next month. The show also celebrates the release of single of the year contender ‘Ghost Train’ through Moshi Moshi’s singles club a few days later.
