What? Kurt Vile the Constant Hitmaker from Philadelphia comes to town to play with his band the Violators. We can’t stress how excited we are about this one. Kurt Vile is set to release his second album ‘Childish Prodigy’ later in October, it’s his first for his new label Matador and it’s undoubtedly one of our most anticipated releases of the year.

Last night we were at The Lexington for a second night in a row. Following an excellent performance by Girls on Monday it was Londoners Ex Lovers turn to impress. The night doubled as the EP launch for their new 10” Chess Club Records release ‘You Forget So Easily’. Would they sink? Would they swim? Would anyone care? // more

Review: Girls @ The Lexington, Sep 21st.
Girls of San Fran-bleeding-good-music-like-it’s-going-out-of-fashion-cisco played our gig of the week at The Lexington in Angel last night. We were eager to see whether the dreamy, distorted West Coast pop of their forthcoming debut album would stand up live or whether it’d be another disappointing case of falling in love with an album only to find the band has no noteworthy live presence. We’re not naming any names (Miracle Fortress last year). // more
